A transmitter converts process pressure into an electrical signal used by the control system. A pressure transmitter monitors a pressure point; a differential pressure transmitter measures the difference between two points. Define the purpose and reference of the measurement before selecting the instrument.
Consider normal operation, minimum/maximum values and transient pressure peaks together. Gauge, absolute and differential pressure are different measurements. Do not confuse the measurement range with the maximum allowable pressure.
Medium chemistry, temperature and particles influence the diaphragm, seals and process connection. Instruments with the same thread can have different material compatibility. Aggressive or contaminated media may require a suitable separating arrangement and connection design.
Match supply, output type, wiring and control-system scaling. For a 4–20 mA instrument, define the corresponding pressure range consistently in both instrument and PLC. Specify switching contacts and a local display separately if required.
Send BEOSIS the product code or existing nameplate together with the medium, pressure range, temperature, process connection and required output. This supports selection by measurement duty rather than visual similarity.
