The Igema self-checking high-water alarm monitors the upper water-level limit of a steam boiler. Excessive water level can cause carryover, wet steam, contamination, reduced heat-transfer performance and damage to steam-system components.

The alarm can be integrated into the plant control system to warn personnel and initiate the required response, such as stopping the feed pump, closing the feedwater valve or shutting down the burner. The operating limit and response sequence must be defined for the boiler and installation.
