The Galaxy KP-01 / KP-01F compact level transmitter uses capacitance to measure conductive and non-conductive liquids. An integrated transmitter provides a standard 4–20 mA analogue output, which can be monitored on the enclosure display.

The electrode rod and tank wall form a capacitor. As the liquid level changes, the dielectric material between them changes and the capacitance follows the level. The measuring rod must be fully insulated and the measuring range calibrated for the application. Applications include boilers, fuel and process tanks, marine systems, glycol, coolant, brine, wine, water, oil and low-conductivity liquids.
